Deck Box Dungeons

Created by Ariah Studios

Deck Box Dungeons is a full featured dungeon crawler that includes character customization, special abilities, and collecting treasure to spend on magical items. All of the components fit into a deck box making it compact and highly portable. The free companion app and print and play quests both allow us to rebalance quests based on feedback, add new content, or even add all new game modes without the need for players to pay more.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Production Timeline Update
over 5 years ago – Fri, Nov 09, 2018 at 01:18:08 AM

This is going to be a very quick Update, but we learned a little more information today and want to keep everyone up to date on the production schedule.

Proofing Status

Digital proofs were finalized last week! Next step is the PPC which is estimated to ship out in about 10 days. Expect a much larger, image filled Update as soon as we receive the PPC.

Production Schedule

We unfortunately found out today that mass production will not happen before the end of the year. Up until today we still had a hope there might be a possibility, but it is official now from Panda that it is just not possible. We are now pushing to get things made and on the boat before Chinese New Year to avoid any further delays, but this is mostly out of our control at this point. Assuming we can get on the ocean before CNY that roughly pushes delivery back to around March.

We apologize for this delay and will continue to work hard on the other pieces of the game as we wait on manufacturing. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to let us know here or on FacebookTwitter, and Board Game Geek. Otherwise we will be back as soon as we receive the PPC!

October Update
over 5 years ago – Fri, Oct 26, 2018 at 02:33:06 AM

Manufacturing Update

We finally received the last of the digital proofs from Panda on Monday. This took much longer than expected, but overall things looked good. There were only a couple tiny issues with bleed on three card images that were not caught in the first round of prepress checks. See the image below for an example of the issue.

It's only a potential issue if the cutting of the card is off by the largest allowed margin of error, but you can see how the border could get clipped. So it's very minor, but we cleaned that up and have already resubmitted the updated files. After these updated files are reviewed by Panda again we should be clear for the PPC.

One of the nice things about having all the encounters and quests be app based and print-and-play is that we can continue to work on those while we wait on manufacturing progress. All of the core quests and character based stretch goal quests will be laid out by the end of November and we can keep polishing them after that. We will share more on quests in a future Update.

Deck Box Dungeons Merch

There was some interest in the Deck Box Dungeons t-shirts we made earlier this year for Gen Con, but it wasn't very cost effective to ship them around the country/world. Since we had a little extra time while waiting for proofs we setup some designs on RedBubble. Shirts are available in a variety of styles and colors. We also decided not to mark up any products at least until after the game ships, so if you would like something you can get it at the lowest price possible! Click here to check out our RedBubble shop.

We will have another Update in November, but please feel free to reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter, Board Game Geek, or here on Kickstarter if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!

September Update
over 5 years ago – Fri, Sep 28, 2018 at 12:58:30 AM

This is going to be a short one, but we still want to keep everyone up to date at least once a month.

Manufacturing Update

All files were submitted and approved by Panda, but we are still waiting to receive the final digital proofs. The digital proofs are the final step in design verification. We expect to be able to review and approve the digital proofs over the next week or so, but that is dependent on when we receive the files. After that it's time for the pre-production copy!

Logo Update

Some of you may have noticed our logo has been updated slightly on various websites. Nothing major, but we wanted something that better expressed the name as Deck Box Dungeons since there had been some confusion whether it was "Deckbox" or "Deck Box".

We're hoping the next Update will be a big one where we can show off the pre-production copy, but at this point most of the manufacturing timing is unfortunately out of our hands. In the meantime, we are continuing to work on quest design, print and play test layouts, and the app. We will update as soon as possible if we receive the pre-production copy, get any word on a final production schedule, or any other big news. Otherwise we will update again before the end of October.

If you'd like to stay in touch please follow us on FacebookTwitter, or here on Kickstarter. Check out the game on Board Game Geek too! Ask questions and leave feedback. We would like to get some more activity going on over there and plan to have BGG be the hub for print & play quests and user created content after the game is out.

August Update

This post is for backers only. Please visit Kickstarter.com and log in to read.

July Update
almost 6 years ago – Thu, Jul 19, 2018 at 12:28:58 AM

Sorry it's been a while since we have done an Update, but we've been busy working on everything from the app, print & play quests, and new stretch goal cards.  Going forward we will try to do at least one Update a month to keep everyone up on how things are progressing.

Stretch Goal Cards

First up are the two new heroes, Fianna and Geric. Here's a little about each of them.

Fianna has honed herself into a fierce weapon ready to slice through dungeons. Her mind and body are linked because in combat, second guessing means death.

A good song is like a good friend, it's always there when you need it. Geric is like a half remembered song: a bit off tune, always saying the wrong words but just too catchy to forget.

New equipment card contains the Battle Axe and Chain Darts. Both of these introduce new keywords and a stat requirement that is not used on other equipment.

The new ability card adds the Monk and Wanderer. The Monk is more combat oriented while the Wanderer offers options for adjusting and re-rolling dice.

Finally, the extra item card is the Ring of Invisibility. The ring adds a unique way to protect yourself for a turn and then teleport to an ally.

Manufacturing Progress

We are currently in the process of getting files prepped and verified for production. It is definitely a learning process getting settings and specs correct, but that's why added some buffer time to our delivery estimate. Once we are happy with all the files and they have been approved we will get a pre-production copy to review before moving onto mass production.

App / Print & Play

The app is moving along and still on track, but still a ways from being completely functional.  We will likely open it up for early feedback on Google Play whenever we have something we're ready to share.

We have been playing around with templates and layouts for the Print & Play quests and hope to have a rough version ready for demos/play tests at Gen Con.

Gen Con

Which leads us to Gen Con.  Are you going?  We are!  (sort of...)  We do not have a booth or events this year (we promise we'll be better prepared next year after we have a physical game), but we'll be around and have the latest prototypes on us.  If you're going let us know by sending a message on Facebook, Twitter, or here on Kickstarter.  We'd be happy to try and meet up so you can check out the game!

That's it for this one, but remember to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on the latest!
